"Willard B. Lease, 88, Friedens RD 2, died Nov. 10, 1981, at Somerset Community Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1893, in Stonycreek Township, son of Minnie (Lease) Long. He was preceded in death by mother; first wife, former Edna Rhoads; and half-sister, Verda Long; also infant grandson. He is survived by widow, former Miriam Peck; children: Edith, widow of Floyd Hoffman, Berlin; Mrs. Donald (Elaine) Pyle and Elvin, both of Friedens; and Mrs. William (Arlene) Cassady, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and half-sisters and half-brother, Alma Long, Bessie Long, and J. Chester Long, all of Friedens, and Nancy Pfhrogner, State of Indiana; also 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was an army veteran of World War I; life-long member of Friedens Lutheran Church; member of Stoystown Lions Club; Labor Union Local 419 and Somerset VFW. "Mrs. Lola V. Peck, 57, of Springs, wife of Paul Peck, died Feb. 21, shortly after being admitted to Memorial Hospital, Cumberland. She had been in ill health for some time. Born in Fort Hill, she was a daughter of the late Henry C. and Nellie (Grove) Livengood. She was a member of the Maple Glen Church of the Brethren, the Fifth Society of Farm Women and the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Ronald, Springs; Terry of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Gale, at home; also a daughter, Sharon at home; and one grandchild. She was a sister of Vernon, Byron and Clifford Livengood, all of Fort Hill. Funeral service was conducted on Friday, Feb. 24, at Springs Mennonite Church by Revs. Walter Otto and Daniel Whitacre. Interment was made in Maple Glen cemetery, under the direction of Newman Funeral Home."

Comments: "Samuel J. LIVENGOOD, son of John C. and Mary (HERSHBERGER) LIVENGOOD, was born May 1, 1830, in Elk Lick Township, and in early life was engaged in agricultural pursuits. Later he became a merchant in Salisbury, then removed to Grantsville, Garrett Co., Maryland, where he engaged in merchandising and in farming. In 1874 he returned to business in Salisbury, retiring in March, 1877. He served one term as county auditor, was a number of times school director and held various other borough offices. He was a deacon in the German Baptist Church and a lifelong Republican.
Mr. LIVENGOOD married, in 1850, Nancy, daughter of Peter LICHTY, of Elk Lick Township, and the following were their children: Ananias, born May 9, 1851; Urias, died in childhood; Mary, born January 28, 1854, died March 11, 1877; she was wife of M. C. HORNER, of Summit Township; Nancy, born December 24, 1856; Fanny, born February 22, 1859, wife of the Rev. A. D. GNAGEY, of Altoona, Pa.; William, born March 22, 1861, married, in 1887, Louisa EISFELLER, of Toledo, Ohio, and lives at Seattle, Washington; Peter Lincoln, born December 14, 1863, see forward; Sarah, born April 18, 1867, wife of Oliver HEITZMAN, of Palouse, Washington; Jonas, born September 13, 1868, married Laura HOOPER, of Canada, and lives at Santa Cruz, California; and Annie, born November 24, 1872, resides at Palouse, Washington. Mr. LIVENGOOD, the father of the family, was instantly killed by a fall of coal in a coal mine, August 2, 1882. Mrs. Nancy LIVENGOOD died July 25, 1898."

"MRS. LYDIA TRENT, NONAGERIAN, DEAD
One of Johnstown's Oldest Residents will be laid to rest on her 94th birthday.
General debility of long standing caused the death of Mrs. Lydia Long Trent, widow of George Trent, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Herman Coleman, 310 Strauss Avenue, Sixth Ward, at 10 o'clock this morning. Her husband, who was born in Somerset County in 1819, died in the fifth ward in 1902 and was buried on his 83rd birthday anniversary, April 23rd, while Mrs. Trent was also born in Somerset County and will be laid to rest on the 94th anniversary of her birth, Wednesday afternoon. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Robert D. Clare, of the First Lutheran Church, of which Mrs. Trent was a member for many years, and internment will be in Grandview Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Coleman, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Three of her daughters are dead. They were Mrs. W.M. Levergood, Mrs. James McClelland, and Mrs. Katharine Jones."
