"Mast - Alexander D. Mast was born in Somerset Co., Pa., Aug. 17, 1850; died July 14, 1938; aged 87 y. 10 m. 28 d. When a young man he moved to Indiana where he was married to Sarah Miller Oct. 12, 1873. They moved to Newaygo Co., Mich., in 1900. To this union were born 7 children: Mrs. Delia Shaffer of Hart, Mich.; Wesley, Milo, Nora, Mrs. Howard Slade, Mrs. Ford Fry, and Mrs. Roy Grabill of White Cloud, Mich. - all of whom survive him except for his wife who preceded him in death 21 years ago. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 17, at the Big Prairie Church, conducted by T.U. Nelson."

On Nov. 12, 1982, he was married to Susan Burkholder, who died Feb. 7, 1945. On Oct. 12, 1947, he was married to Ellen Burkholder Melinger, who survives, at the age of 99. Also surviving are 3 children (Henry, Ralph, and Mrs. Mary Hochstetler), 3 stepchildren, 9 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the North Main Street Church, Nappanee, Ind., where funeral services were held, with Homer F. North and Robert Gerber officiating; interment in South Union Cemetery."

"Mast. --- Samuel D., son of David and Nancy (Livengood) Mast, was born near Walnut Creek, Ohio, March 7, 1865; died at the home of a daughter at Gas City, Ind., Sept. 12, 1950; aged 85 y. 6 m. 5 d. On Nov. 24, 1887, he was united in marriage to Lydia Sproal, who preceded him in death in 1922. Surviving are 8 children (Bert, Silas, Laura Birkey, Meldo, Virgil, Anna Linn, Elsie Swartzendruber, and Wilma Druley) and 33 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his immediate family there are 2 brothers and 4 sisters living. He became a member of the Mennonite Church near Kokomo, Ind., later transferring his membership to Hopedale, Ill. Funeral services were held Sept. 14 at the Howard-Miami Church, near Kokomo, in charge of A. G. Horner. Burial was made in the Shrock Cemetery."

"Maust.-Simon L. Maust was born in Somerset Co., Pa., Oct. 17, 1858; died at his home in Springs, Pa., March 10, 1934; aged 75 y. 4 m. 23 d. He was married to Savilla Folk Dec. 15, 1878, to which union were born 5 sons and 2 daughters. Two sons preceded him in death after attaining manhood, and one daughter in infancy. He thus leaves his companion. 3 sons and 1 daughter (Norman and Homer of Springs, Harry of Scottsdale, Mrs. Stewart Rodamer of Grantsville), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 brother (Leonard, Masontown, W. Va.), 2 half-brothers (H. S. Yoder of Grantsville, Md., and Norman S. Yoder of Pinto, Md.), 1 half-sister (Mrs. N. E. Hershberger of Grantsville), and a number of more distant relatives and many friends. He united with the Amish Mennonite Church in youth, in which connection he died. He was well and favorably known for his genial sympathetic, and neighborly qualities. He was a man who was quite active in the common, necessary occupations of life, doing his part without undue pretense. He maintained bodily vigor and activity above many of his age, until a few years ago, when he became afflicted with weakness of the heart, after which his condition again improved. Some weeks before his death his health again began to fail, and about a week before the end complications of pneumonia set in. The funeral was held at the Spring Mennonite meeting house March 13, at which an unusually large congregation assembled. Services at the late home were conducted by C. W. Bender; at the meeting house by J. B. Miller, assisted by Shem Peachey and G. D. Miller. Interment in the Springs Cemetery."
